How I'd spend $1,000

Well, since I'm in Kuwait maybe on my way to Iraq..............I would save it. I don't really need anything right now, I have food, a place to sleep, shower and check email. Most of all, I have a place, the office, to do my homework, I am determined to get my degree. Maybe I would save the money and spend it on my graduation party!!

Read to my mother

I wish that I could have had a higher level of courage at my mother's funeral. I was only 10 and dead people scare me, but I wish I could have been brave enough to read my favorite poem to her.

My ideal Super Bowl halftime show would include Beyonce

Beyonce
Beyonce can sing any song, dance to any song and wear the baddest outfit!! I am pretty sure that if she was the only performer, you wouldn't mind. Yes she has performed before but who cares, she's the greatest and maybe it helps that she's from Texas.

If I had easy access to a helicopter, I'd fly to LAS VEGAS!!! this weekend

Because you can nothing but fun, fun and more fun in Vegas, especially when you go with your best gal pal's. Of course I would have to invite my sister Kara because I want to look good and she knows how to dress, well I think so and that's all that matters. I know that if I took Jennifer, Kara, Tae and whoever else that wanted to go with me, I would have a good, safe, fun trip and plenty of good looking pictures.

Walking keeps me in shape

I love walking! I could walk all day and all night, especially if the weather is right, wearing the right shoes and if the scenery is really nice. Walking by yourself can get kind of boring so I would much rather walk with a group of people but I walk really really fast so they would have to keep up and most of the time they don't. I love listening to music but not when I'm walking outside because that is such a safety hazard, having your hearing impaired especially for me because I like my music turned all the way up.

I wish I could get a new location, location, location

Well, currently I reside in Kuwait, thanks to the United States Army. If it was up to me, I would rather be staying in a small house or nice size apartment. I'm not too keen on big places for myself, by myself. I like when other people have large houses and such but not for me, maybe if I had a family or something like that.

Don't say 'fag' around me

fag
Because its degrading to gays and lesbians. I am neither but I do have friends that are and that word is just very mean. I think that people that use that word are scared of gays and lesbians and aren't condient in their sexual perference.

Frankly Speaking: Beyonce Is Living Economically

"Honestly, I'm very frugal. I haven't bought a car since I was 16 or any diamonds since I was 17. I have a lot of property. I've invested my money and I don't have to make any more, thank God, because I'm set. I'm now able really to be free and just do things that make me happy."
– Singer Beyonce Knowles spoke about her finances in an interview with UK's Mirror publication.
In 2008, Forbes magazine named the 27-year-old former Destiny's Child member as number one on their "Highest Earners Under 30" list for her $110 million fortune

And of course, here are my thoughts cause oh boy, people was hating on B like she did them dirty:

So its okay for the other celebrities to boast about their money and wear all kinds of bling? Okay whatever, don't hate because she is doing what everyone should be doing and thats saving her money. All she said was if I wanna work, then I do so, she doesn't buy jewelry and would you when the big names in that part of the industry will let you wear it for free? You don't have to buy dresses because you own your own clothing line, your mama does hair, so why waste your money? Get real and get a life, Beyonce is one of the few people in the spotlight thats humble. She doesn't say stupid stuff, act crazy, if anything she has evolved into a woman right before our very eyes. She didn't have a big fancy wedding, just a small simple ceremony and she isn't humble? Unlike other artists, she doesn't put her personal business out there and keeps the music industry moving. Unless you have seen a movie with her in it, how do you she can't act. Unless you listen to her music how do you know she can't sing. To say Beyonce can't sing is to stay we don't have a black president, bottom line is you lying. So let me guess you are an Ashanti, Ciara or Janet Jackson fan? Because they damn sho can't sing or act. I mean let's look at reality. How many times have you seen Janet Jackson sing at somebody's party or sing the national anthem? How many times have you heard Ciara sing, just sing, no dancing and of course she'll never sing without the music. Ashanti, everybody knows she can't sing live, how do you mess up your own song? How many times have you heard somebody sing her song at a talent contest? Now who can't act is Ashanti, she don't even get to do commercials, thats when you know you suck. So quit hating on Beyonce because she has what she wants. I don't hate, you know why, there is no reason to. The job I do, is very important, benefits galore......wanna know what it is? I'm in the military, so next time you wanna hate on somebody tell people like me thank you for ensuring freedom across the nation and the ability to speak your mind.

Raunchy Rap Lyrics Lead to Teen Sex?

According to momlogic.com: A new study says explicit music lyrics can lead to teen sex.

Here are my thoughts on that:

Its not the songs people, I mean really didn't this come out already? When a child doesn't know anything about sex then they want to learn, whether it be through music, tv shows or even books. I can tell you right now that if you aren't talking to your kids or educating them about sex, somebody else it. The only reason my sister, who was my guardian at the time talked to me about sex and it was really brief, was because she found a condom in my backpack. What to know how that ended up in my backpack? Really simple, my sister was a Medical Assistant and worked at the clinics in various schools throughout the city as part of a program with the local hospital. When she worked weekends and the shifts were really long, we would go to work with her, me and my nephews. We would sit in the waiting room and watch tv or read books. One of the staff members came into the waiting room and asked different questions about std's and sex. If you got the question right, you got a prize which could be anything from candy to condoms. Now I was only 12 and didn't want anything to do with sex because at that time my sister had three kids by three different men, plus me, so parenthood at 12 of course didn't look so hot. Once she discovered thats what happened the "talk" was pretty much over with. So how did I learn about sex and everything that goes with it? TV shows late at night, books, magazines and my friends at school. So don't blame the media because parents aren't doing their job. If your "talk" starts out with you asking your child what he or she knows, you have already lost the battle and your kid is no longer listening.

Is this offensive?

This cartoon image provided by the New York Post appeared in the Post's Page Six Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009. The cartoon, which refers to Travis the chimp, who was shot to death by police in Stamford, Conn. on Monday after it mauled a friend of its owner, drew criticism Wednesday on media Web sites and from civil rights activist the Rev. Al Sharpton.
This was also blogged on blackvoices.com
Another blogger wrote: Does this seem offensive to you?
Here is my response:
I totally agree with you, this paper has been running too long just to up and print something as dumb as what America seems to believe. Its not even America as a whole, somebody that wanted to be offended was and so they want everybody else thats black to sympathize with them. My take is whoever thought the paper was implying that the President was the animal, wanted President Obama to be that monkey. Things are always taken out of context and for what? The World has finally recognized us for trying to be an equal country, we finally see change and what do we do? Overreact to everything and at the end of the day, we are still a country that is being ran by probably the best man in the world. I would further recommend that we as a whole, African American body, focus on the good things that is going on and not focus on the negative. Thinking like that would have never freed the slaves, it was when they started fighting for freedom and dreaming about it did they actually achieve freedom.

Army Mother Arrested for Desertion 10 Years Later

Here is a story from blackvoices.com:

In 1998, Flynn enlisted in the Army after being homeless and spending considerable time on welfare. Due to her financial situation, and the state of her deteriorating marriage, she felt that joining the military would allow her to establish financial security for her son and daughter, then ages 4 and 8. When Flynn attended basic training in South Carolina, she left her children with a friend. Shortly after, she started a 17-week communications class at Fort Gordon in Georgia. To compound things, her family members were unwilling to take the children, and Flynn balked at the prospect of leaving them with friends given her son's illness. She was declared absent without leave in 1999, dropped from the roster and marked as a deserter. Her salary payments stopped not long after. But here's the kicker. She actually tried to turn herself in at least twice at local Navy installations but was rebuffed. Army officials asked the Navy to tell her to go home both times, according to naval authorities in an earlier story by the newspaper.Flynn got a job as a bus driver and remarried. Her children are now 14 and 18. Sadly, she was taken into custody at 1 a.m. while at her home. And on a Saturday no less. Now, she is in a jail cell awaiting for the Army to assume custody. For anyone who has ever been in the military or who is familiar with people in the service, you know that desertion is one of the worst possible allegations that a soldier can face. Of course, this is a unique situation and the circumstances surrounding it are atypical. It's not every day that soldiers are faced with a decision like this one. But I'm curious to know how many people would have done the same were they in Flynn's shoes? I think she made the right decision. It's a travesty that after all these years, she has to face these charges. This is a sad case of government not working for the people. She should have been given an honorable discharge on account of a hardship case. Hopefully, this wrong will be righted soon. What are your thoughts?

Well, here are my thoughts as posted on blackvoices.com:
I'm very sorry to hear about all of the hardship this former Soldier had to endure. However, whenever one person stops during their job, another person has to pick up their slack. Whenever someone goes AWOL, there isn't just paperwork involved, time that other Soldiers wanted to spend with their family and friends has now been spent clearing this Soldier from an installation not to mention that someone, within the unit has to clear her living area. Somebody has to pack up her belongings, turn in her military gear back into the very agency that issued it to her. I thing there was more that could have been done and once nobody was looking for her, she figured she was in the clear. She is very lucky that if and when she filed taxes that the government didn't take that away from her. We are a country at war and whether she likes it or not, or anyone else for that reason, we have a job to do. I have been deployed three times and that is at least three years I have been away from my family and friends. I do not believe that she tried to turn herself in and for what reason would she go to the Navy? How do I know? One of the Soldiers that is in my unit went AWOL, twice. He went back to Puerto Rico and being AWOL began to take a toll on his mental and he wanted to do the right thing, turn his self in. He knew very well anything could happen once he returned. He faced jail time, monetary fines and of course being discharged from the military. He turned himself into an Army Chaplain and he in turned contacted Fort Hood, got in touch with the unit to whom he was last assigned to. She went to the Navy because it was convenient for her, the Navy doesn't have anything to gain and if anything she was going to cost them time as well, so they blew her off, not somebody from the Army and if that's the case, what is their name and rank? What date and time did she speak to them? Why not go to an Army recruiter? Exactly, she went to the Navy for a reason and it was not to turn herself in.

B*TCH YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT

WELL, I GUESS ITS TIME TO REALLY SPEAK MY MIND ON THE WHOLE CHRIS BROWN SITUATION. BY NO MEANS WILL I EVER EXCUSE A MAN HITTING A WOMAN BUT IS IT FAIR WHEN A WOMAN PROVOKES A MAN TO SUCH EXTREMES? SEE HERE'S THE PROBLEM I HAVE, DURING THIS WHOLE ORDEAL NUMEROUS SOURCES HAVE REPORTED THAT DURING RIHANNA'S AND CHRIS BROWN'S ARGUMENT, SHE GOT SO MAD THAT SHE THREW HIS CAR KEYS. UMM, DID YOU LOSE YOUR MIND? EVEN AS BADASS I AM, I WOULD NOT EVER THROW A MAN'S GAME, CAR KEYS OR MONEY AWAY, ON THE GROUND, THE COUCH, NOTHING........CAUSE THAT MEANS YOU ARE ABOUT TO START SOME SHIT! THOSE SAME SOURCES ALSO REPORT THAT RIHANNA USE TO FIGHT HER BROTHER. NOW WHETHER YOU ARE PLAYING AROUND OR BEING SERIOUS, THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FIGHTING OTHER FEMALES AND FIGHTING MALES. MAYBE RIHANNA THOUGHT SHE COULD MANHANDLE CHRIS BROWN BUT IF MY DADDY USED TO BEAT MY MAMA'S ASS........I WOULDN'T EVEN BEGAN TO TREAD INTO THOSE WATERS.

WELL THATS MY TAKE ON IT, ONCE AGAIN I AM NOT EXCUSING CHRIS BROWN'S BEHAVIOR, BUT THERE ARE OTHER FACTORS TO LOOK AT. HOLLA AT YA GIRL WITH YOUR TAKE OF THE SITUATION.
